A serene weekend at the vineyards in Nashik

Last weekend for me was supremely relaxing! We spent 2 days at the vineyards in Nashik. It feels so great to unwind with brilliant wines after a tiring week at work! Here is my little picture story from the last weekend… hope you enjoy reading it and make a plan to visit Sula or York or both soon!

Our drive to Nashik was very comfortable. It took about 3 hours from Mumbai. We were not particularly driving fast (husband was driving ;). There was unbelievably less traffic on the road and the scene was beautiful!

Our travel plan was not really made well in advance. So in spite of wanting to stay at Sula, we could not get a room there and we chose to stay at Express inn – which is one of the hotels recommended by Sula on their website (due to proximity to Sula I guess) and is right on the highway connecting Mumbai and Nasik (so there is no need to enter the city).

We reached Sula Vineyards in the afternoon and the view was spectacular. Everything was so much better than I had imagined! There was a beautiful Vineyard, a wine tasting room and a deck with a great view of the vineyard, 2 restaurants, the wine making tour and a so many more things!

After a satisfying wine tasting and some shopping (Shiraz – Dindori Reserve) we headed back to our hotel right after the sunset. This is the view from the elevator of our hotel. I’m glad we chose Express inn!!!

The next morning we chose to visit another Vineyard called York. York is also located on the same road that Sula is. It is about 3 km ahead on the same road. We had not heard much about this place except from a friend’s little sister, so were quite excited to check it out. Again, we were pleasantly surprised by York. The place has an extraordinary view (I may say even better than that of Sula). We were going to drive back post lunch so we didn’t indulge in the wine tasting at York.. but bought a few bottles of their late Harvest Chenin Blanc and had It later after reaching Mumbai. Delicious! Apparently, the wine is available ay Nature’s Basket.

The drive back was also very comfortable.  This was yet another successful road trip. And now I can’t wait to visit once again!
